Du déjà vu

I'm not talking about the sun, even though we have seen it before — it had been a while — here in Saint-Aignan. I'm talking about the vineyard. I'm back in it every other morning and every other afternoon. It's wet. Sloppy wet.

Yesterday morning, however, the sun came out. Don't worry, though. It didn't stay long. They do say that we won't have rain for a few days now — maybe for the next 10 days — so the ground might dry out a little. I might even be able to till up the vegetable garden. I want to plant kale, and Walt wants to plant peas and radishes.

People are out working in the vineyard, pruning and just generally cleaning up. Their cars were parked along the road yesterday morning when I went out with Callie. If you enlarge the photo above, you can see our house in the distance. Or you can just look at the photo below.

You can enlarge any of the photos by clicking on them with your mouse, or by tapping on them if you're using a tablet. I'm having a slow and easy morning because I got myself a new toy to play with yesterday. It's a 10-inch Android tablet. Maybe the screen will be big enough for my fat fingers to be more accurate when it comes to typing an e-mail or a blog comment.

  1. That's what I like with iPads, whether regular or mini, the virtual keyboard is big enough to be easy to navigate. Letters are square. If I remember correctly, letters on the Andoid's virtual keyboard are rectangular and not that big. Hope your new toy will work for you.

    1. Is the keyboard on the iPad adjustable? In Android, you can make the on-screen keyboard taller, so that it fills up as much of the screen as you want, and the keys go from being wide recangles to being more square, or to being tall rectangles if you want. Maybe you hadn't adjusted the ASUS keyboard to make the keys more nearly square. To me, just having the larger sceen seems to make all the difference. My fingertips are far too big and blunt for the smaller screen. And I have now realized that 99% of the time I am using the tablet at home, not outside, so its size and weight are not an important issue. It's just the early stages, but already I am enjoying the 10" model.

    2. I never knew that the keyboard on the Asus could be modified. As for the iPad, I have no idea whether it could be modified or not. It's OK as it is.

    3. I guess I'm more bricoleur than you are when it comes to computers. I like being able to customize the hardware and the interface.

    1. There are two houses in that last photo. Ours is the taller one in the back, with the two little skylight windows on it.

  3. Hi Ken, I got myself a bluetooth logitech keyboard/cover for my tablet. You might want to look into that. (http://www.amazon.fr/dp/B00KFLWHZK/ref=asc_df_B00KFLWHZK32494452/?tag=googshopfr-21&creative=22686&creativeASIN=B00KFLWHZK&linkCode=df0&hvdev=c&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=)
I'm very happy with it. The only thing is that I don't see when it's running down and needs to be recharged. It does go a long while before needing recharging, though.
